When I got the invitation, I thought it said, "Save Bilbo's Tatas," which got me thinking in a Lord of the Rings direction and left me kind of confused. I'm up to speed now, though.

I was thinking of making her a pink ribbon washcloth and packaging it up with some nice (preferably pink) soap. What do you think?

That's all I've got, unless we can find a walk-a-thon for the cause and put together a Betties team in her honor.

I'd be totally happy to cook something and run it down to her, but I suspect she won't let us know when she could use that kind of help.

Still thinking . . . What if like 5 or 6 of us each made something, froze them all, then just delivered them to be stored in her freezer so she'd have a reasonably easy dinner for when she's not up to cooking?

My daughter is in training to do the Avon Three Day Walk for Breast Cancer. Maybe we can get her to join forces with us.

Is Debibo's favorite color pink? I know the breast cancer color is pink, but she might like another color better.

I used to do the frozen casserole thing when my kids were babies with my friends who had just given birth. It's a sooper idea.

Here's the next Komen Race for the Cure in Miami.
Saturday, October 18.

I've done a bunch of them and they're well organized and fun!
And we have some time to get in shape!

Well, she's getting pink from me. Bright pink. I just ran over to Michael's and bought it. If a bunch of us are making washcloths, maybe we could package them all together in a nice basket with soaps and stuff. Put each person's name on a little tag on their cloth, but make it one package gift. ?

I like the idea of the basket with the cloths and the soaps. I think that the feeling this morning is that we just don't want to do one thing and since she'll need ongoing support, we can participate in several things. Debbie, what yarn did you get for the washcloths?

Sugar n Cream, Hot Pink.

I agree. We could start with the wash cloth basket, follow up with the lap blanket (or whatever we wind up making), then deliver some frozen meals, and by that time, we'll have thought of some more stuff to do! We don't want to smother or overwhelm her, but a nice steady stream of gestures, over the course of weeks, to let her know we're still pulling for her, sounds like a Good Thing to me.

When my SIL was going through chemo (also breast cancer), and her hair fell out, not only was her head cold, her scalp was very sore. So, I was thinking we could make a cushion/pillow cover out of something incredibly soft (angora?) so she'd have somewhere comfortable to rest her head.

Also love the idea of blankets, shawls, and spa socks!

Hats? Very soft hats? Maybe with the matching socklets, like the pattern Tropical yarns had?

We were talking about the Bettie's spa day over on Ravelry. I think we need to step up the planning and get ourselves and Debibo somewheres before treatments begin. It sohould probably include heavy drinking too.

OMG I love this blog and I love the title photo! YAY! :)

I was totally thinking yesterday what I can make her, too.

Torii's comment about the pillow reminded me: I don't know if she'll be getting chemo as last time she had cardiac reactions to it that were high risk. This scares me since she'll have to rely on radiation, but I'm actually hoping surgery will be the option this time, believe it or not.

Debbie: not sure of her favorite color, I'm trying to think of when I went and fondled her yarn stash, ha.

As for frozen meals, her husband will GREATLY appreciate that as I know they order or go out to eat often.

I want to make her spa socks or something similar. :)

Spa sockies could totally go in the washcloth-soap basket, if they could be done in time!

Just sayin'.

My daughter just sent me this idea:

Maybe you guys could make a once a day calendar for her or something.. I once heard a piece of advice that said "Keep all the compliments and throw away the insults". Maybe everyone could write on a 3x5 card their personal thoughts and compliments for her?

I'm just getting a chance to catch upon all the posts here. I love all the ideas, and I'll be more than happy to contribute in any way. Knitting, cooking, whatever.
