but it's 8 X 8, after multiple discussions where we mostly reminisced about Beth's blanket and how 12 X 12 seemed too big and nobody wanted to go down the 12 X 12 road again.
Aw, fiddle! I'm almost done with my second (and favorite) square, but I fear I'm going to have to tear it out and start over. It's a bit too wide. Depending on when I measure it, it can be as much as a half an inch too wide, which could really mess up the joining.
I added 3 stitches to it when I started, thinking it was going to be too small, but now I'm thinking I'd be much better off without those three stitches.
I'm just speculating, here, since we haven't talked about the presentation of the pillow, but I would think we'd probably present it at the same time as the blanket, and if that's the case, you have plenty of time!
And in other news, my square -- you know, the one I frogged and restarted because it was coming out too wide? -- is coming out too narrow! I can't even believe it! Maybe if I keep going, it'll somehow widen?????
It's actually coming along very nicely. I decided to make it like a knitted pillow case, so she can wash the pillow. The actual pillow inside the case is floral with tiny pink ribbons. It's a fabric where the proceeds go to Breast Cancer Awareness at Susan G Komen. The opening will be doe in Comfort but a nice edging pattern. It's been fun to work on.
Well, my first square somehow grew as soon as I bound off. It's like 8.75 x 8.75. MEH! I kept scrunching it up and remeasuring, but the smallest I could get it was 8.5 x 8.5. Guess I'm frogging.
What's the deadline looking like for our square? I was thinking of doing the Hello Kitty one- a member actually posted it in our shared projects area of Ravelry, so cute! Is anyone else planning on doing that one?
I think the squares do tend to expand. That's why my first one came out too big and had to be frogged, and why my second one scared me by appearing too small up until the very end, when it came out right.
And I just finished a 10" square for that woman on Ravelry who's doing the 3-day walk in Michigan, and that one was too small right up until the end, too, when it suddenly became very nearly the right size!
I don't know about the deadline. We didn't come up with one yet. And what did we decide about the joining?

A MEN! I like 8x8 much better! My attention span sheems to be shrinking.
Sounds good to me!
I already frogged and ready to do the 8x8.
:)

:::sigh:::
The Pillow is 70% finished. I will plan to have it finished in a eek or so unless I am told it's needed sooner.

My two squares are done. Except for weaving in the ends, which I really, really don't feel like doing.

Oh, that sounds so, so perfect! I know it's going to be gorgeous!
8x8 sounds good to me too!

Do we have a due date yet?

How many sts are you all casting on? are you using 8's?
I cast on 40 stitches, but I'm using a size 6 needle.
I hid my too-big square from myself, and then I got too distracted doing dishcloths to get it out again.
What are we thinking for a deadline?
My square is done. Should we have a due date soon?
